Avoiding spreading yourself to thinly means that you will not become a “jack of all trades and a master of none”.

If you’re trying to “spread yourself to thin” the process of development and adaptation becomes hard and frustrating; as you don’t actually have a clear idea of what’s working.

Often, very trivial things like a word or statement you may be using, or the time you sent out your messages can result in the success or failure of a strategy. Hence why focusing on one or two marketing methods, before implementing more strategies, is so important.

Once perfected, you’re then able to call yourself an expert in that marketing strategy or method, whether it be social web 2.0, viral marketing, social networking, PPC or Ezine advertising. You’re now an expert at that method, and have put yourself in a position to show others exactly what to do. Whether that be through product creation, coaching or direct consultation you now have an authority status based on your own personal results.

It’s so simple it can often be un-believable, but this fact is exactly what dooms so many online marketers to failure. And, before carrying out any strategy completing a certain amount of research into the demographics of you ideal customer and the sites they visit will also help. This will definitely help your online marketing strategies and will almost double you chance of success in the future.
