Network Marketing Tips

Helping You Build A Huge Network Marketing Business

Tag: Network Marketers

Many people confuse network marketing with pyramids. This is troubling for network marketers because pyramids have a bad name (and deserve to). What are the differences between pyramid marketing and MLM network marketing? Keep reading.

In MLM network marketing there is always some type of product being sold. The range of products is huge and there are over 1,000 different network marketing companies out there. The one thing that’s different is that the specific products are only available through the MLM company. You cannot find it retail, or anywhere else because it’s only available to members of the network. Therefore, if you want to buy it you will have to join under an established member of the network, and become a member yourself. This is how the people involved make their money – the recruiting member receives a commission from the products purchased by the new member.

Once you join, you now have to follow the rules, which usually include committing yourself to buying a certain amount of that product per month. Your business/job with the company is to promote the products to other people so they want sign up with you so they can purchase the products.

With the pyramid scheme, a person is up against just a what it sounds like – a scheme. Clearly the only people who stand to make money are the ones who thought it up in the first place. One of the best examples of this type of fraud is the infamous “chain letter” that has been circulating for years, which has bilked countless people out of their money. When a person opens the chain letter, a cheerful salutation by someone named “John” or the like, happily announces that he now makes thousands of dollars per month and has been retired from his regular job since the year before – all thanks to this really easy program he was made privy to. And, the great news is – anyone can do the same!

Next, you must start the ball rolling – and, in order to do this, you must send a disclosed amount of money to the person whose name and address is in the Number One position on a list that comes with the letter as an attachment. Once you do this, you can remove that person’s name from the Number One position, and move everyone else on the list up one notch. Your name then goes into the empty “last position” spot on the list. Then you get to make a couple hundred copies of the letter and list you received and send them to as many people as you can think of – who are expected to follow suit, of course. Once this is done, you are supposed to just kick back and wait for those thousands to come pouring in – which of course, they never do.

So now you know the main differences between pyramid marketing and MLM network marketing. In MLM the company is based on introducing (selling) products and services to people so you can make a commission… just like it happens in stores. In a pyramid you are basically just trying to convince someone to give you their money. One is a real business that you can easily start by yourself and generate legitimate income, the other is a scam designed to steal your money.

Gail Ramberg has been creating TheNetworkMarketingBlog to show you: how to build an MLM business, how to separate the legitimate info on the internet from the bad stuff and why to avoid pyramid marketing. She will also teach you to separate a real business opportunity from a fake.

World Ventures founders Wayne Nugent and Mike Azcue wished to combine the best of the internet and the travel industry in order to create a travel-based MLM company. They launched it from their office in Las Vegas in December 2005. The company now runs completely in the black, allowing members to travel as well as sell travel packages themselves.

President Robert Oblon and Chief Marketing Officer Dan Stamen currently provide leadership for the company. Grant Merz is the director for the company’s Dream Trips program. This program allows its members to travel, taking advantage of World Ventures’s bulk trip purchases at a greatly reduced price. Members can choose from vacations in the US, cruises, and stays at luxury hotels abroad.

World Ventures’s exclusive travel provider is Rovia, which is in partnership with many fantastic vacation providers such as Carnival Cruise lines, Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Go Go Vacations, Melia Hotels and Resorts, Riu Hotels and Resorts, Funjet Vacations, MLT Vacations, Outrigger Resorts, Elite Island Resorts and Barcelo Resorts.

The founders of this company wanted to create a business in which people could not only travel but also become Leisure Travel Consultants (LTCs), selling vacations through Rovia. LTCs gain access to a custom website, earning commissions on travel booked through the website. They also get commissions for recruiting others to become LTCs. These websites only sell vacations through Rovia, but they do not make the members actual travel agents.

Many of the company’s LTCs feel disappointed, so they eventually leave the system. This is because although the world-wide travel industry is upwards of $8 trillion, it is a very competitive marketplace. Leisure Travel Consultants are encouraged to present their websites to family and friends in order to make sales.

Showing a website to family and friends is not necessarily the best way to promote it. The number of visitors will be predictably limited. Marketing is both a science and an art, so it is impossble to enjoy success without having undergone specialized training. Luckily, marketing programs exist to train people how to sell successfully with any company or product.

Many of these programs are available online, and allows for more flexible learning schedule than a traditional marketing school. It is possible to learn marketing while working on a full-time job at the same time. Many marketers their current job incomes for incomes earned from their websites, once they have learned the fundamentals of marketing.

I’m sure that the founders of World Ventures had the best intentions when they encouraged their members to become resellers. Their members, ironically, will achieve greater success if they pursue their marketing knowledge from a different source.

Readers are leaders in any business or industry itself. Those who keep themselves informed consistently are always ahead of the game.

The author of Lesson From Great Lives was a very famous life insurance agent who studied the lives of very successful network marketers and direct sales leaders. It is interesting to note that these industries have a long history that began with people viewing these business opportunities and companies only as scams or fakes. In reality, network marketing is merely a new way of marketing the same old products you buy in the traditional manner. It makes perfect sense when the word NETWORK MARKETING can be broken down. Successful individuals took time to study the industry, learning the most out of it, that they can duplicate their feat on a daily basis. Because the truth is that a process exists in this particular business model which should be followed in order to become an expert as well as have success in both network marketing and direct sales.

A real outlook on this particular business model can be gleaned from Lesson From Great Lives, which also presents you a true way of looking at it as well, because fortunes have been created this way, and which will go on everyday.

It is true that leaders follow leaders. People who are currently at the top weren’t there just by chance; rather, what they did was to find a leader and followed behind. Leaders create followers who, in turn, also become leaders themselves over time.

All in all, this industry can have a very powerful impact on your life, and when I meant impact, it is the power to build your own business that can be passed on to your progeny and to their eventual descendants.

One must become a student of the industry first to learn about it, then team up with a proven mentor or leader and follow in his/her footsteps on the road to success.

Through daily reading and studying traditional network marketers, the dream of creating your own business can now be turned into a happy reality.

Rod Nichols asked:

The Twelve Power Secrets for Network Marketing Success

By Rod Nichols

My first book, Successful Network Marketing for the 21st Century was an industry best seller for several years and helped tens of thousands of network marketers build successful businesses. However, I always felt there were some key knowledge missing from that book and so, over the last three years, I’ve been working on a new book and today I’m happy to announce that The Twelve Power Secrets for Network Marketing Success has been released through Unlimited Publishing. This is the best book I’ve written on network marketing, as it is packed with millions of dollars worth of ideas for building a large and lucrative network marketing business. In the following article, I’d like to give you a great overview of the book. The information in this article alone could help a fledgling or struggling network marketer turn their business into a money maker, so imagine what the book could do. Please enjoy the article, put the information to work and do as I have and build a lifetime stream of residual income, so that you can have both financial and time freedom.

Here are the twelve power secrets for network marketing success:

Power Secret One: Select the Right Company

During my nearly 29 years of network marketing, I’ve selected the wrong company a number of times. Not that the company was bad, although there were a few that were, but rather they weren’t a good fit for me. Even if a company is growing rapidly, has an amazing product, solid compensation plan, and great marketing materials, it doesn’t mean that it’s right for everyone. The questions you have to ask are: Does the company have the same values as mine? Are they marketing in a way that is suitable to my personality? Do they offer a product or service that I can get passionate about? Is the compensation plan suited to my abilities, time commitment, and talents? Once you answer these and other questions, you will have a better feel for whether a company is right for you and although selecting the right company doesn’t guarantee success, it does drastically increase the odds. The key is to do your due diligence and make a good selection.

Power Secret Two: Pick the Right Sponsor

One of the biggest mistakes I see made in network marketing is picking the wrong sponsor. Typically one of two things happens. Either a person gets sponsored by a friend, family member, or associate, who doesn’t know anything more about building a successful network marketing business than they do. The second option usually happens after a bad experience with the first option and so they begin researching to find a big hitter to sponsor them. The problem with being sponsored by a big hitter is that they don’t always have time to work closely with new people. After all they probably have thousands of people in their network, all needing some level of attention. The key here is to be sponsored by someone who is serious about building a big business and is willing to dedicate the time to help you succeed. It’s also important that your sponsor have similar values and be someone you would enjoy working with very closely. Again, picking the right sponsor doesn’t guarantee success, but it sure helps.

Power Secret Three: Develop Purpose, Goals, and Objectives

Over the years I’ve trained and coached tens of thousands of network marketers and have found that most don’t really know why they are in business. It’s critical to long-term success to have a solid “why” or purpose for being in business. It might be to have more time freedom to enjoy your family or to secure your financial future, so you can give your time to ministry or charity work. It might be to become the largest contributor to a charity or ministry. Whatever your purpose, it needs to be vibrant enough to keep you going during the tough times. Once you have a solid purpose, then you must determine what needs to happen in order to achieve that purpose – these are called goals and are the stepping stones or road signs along the way toward your purpose. Goals need to be written and reviewed daily. Often goals are too big to determine what to do on a daily basis, so you should break them down into manageable activities called objectives. Start each day by reviewing your purpose, goals, and objectives, then start working on the highest priority objectives and you will quickly reach your goals and achieve your purpose.

Power Secret Four: Right Attitudes and Beliefs

Many people fail in network marketing because they don’t have the right attitude. They treat their business like a hobby, working at it whenever time allows, rather than treating it like a business and scheduling regular time for business activities. I’ve also encountered many people in network marketing businesses, who show signs that they believe that what they are doing isn’t quite on the up and up, which makes it difficult for them to talk with people. It’s critical to success in network marketing to build belief in three areas: First, is believing in the network marketing industry (if you are struggling in this area, order my book The Ideal Business, by visiting my web site at www.RodNichols.com and clicking on Store). Second, is believing in your company and the products/services. Third, is believing in yourself as a network marketing business owner. If your belief is not strong in all three areas, success will elude you.

Power Secret Five: Treat it Like a Business, Not a Hobby

What does this mean? Most people who enter the network marketing industry have never run a business, so they don’t know what it means to treat it like a business. The keys are to first have the right attitude and second the right actions. Network marketing is one of the very few businesses that can be built while still employed at something else. The great part is that you keep your current income, while building another stream, which eventually will replace the first source. However, in order to do that, you must do the things that successful business people do. You must be consistent and persistent with your business and work on the most productive activities every day. Finally, you need to make a long-term commitment to your business. I have to laugh when someone says they’ll give it a try for six months or so. I’ve owned businesses, both network marketing and traditional, for many years and I’ve yet to find one that would produce a full-time income within six months, while building it on a part-time basis. Yes, some people earn big time income in network marketing within their first six months, but it’s because they put in a more than full-time effort or already had a massive circle of influence. For the average person, like me and probably you, it’s going to take some time and effort to build your business, but if you do it right for the next few years, you’ll never have to worry about money again.

Power Secret Six: Have a M.A.P.

If you were going to drive your car from Seattle, WA to Orlando, FL, would you just jump on the nearest highway and start driving, in hopes that some day soon you’d reach Orlando? No, that would be ludicrous and yet, that’s how most people build a network marketing business. It’s a journey and you need a M.A.P., which stands for Marketing Action Plan. This plan will guide you from where you are right now to where you want to go in life. It should include your purpose, goals, objectives, marketing strategies, and a daily plan to implement those strategies. That way, you are always on track toward your goals and purpose.

Power Secret Seven: Become a Master Prospector

If you were wandering through a field and stumbled across a goldmine, you would immediately buy the lot, purchase digging equipment, and begin to mine the gold. Well, you have stumbled across a goldmine and it’s in your network marketing business. The key is to prospect for the gold nuggets among your friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, congregation members, people out on the internet, and people you meet out in public. There is a direct relationship between the quantity/quality of prospecting and the amount of money you make, so become a master prospector and watch your income sky rocket.

Power Secret Eight: Treat Different People Differently

If you are treating everyone exactly the same, then you’re missing the boat with 75% of them. There are four basic personalities and although we operate at times in all four, every person functions primarily in one of the four. By understanding the characteristics of each personality, you can better communicate and present to prospects, plus train and support those in your network. Understanding and recognizing the different personalities will increase your sponsoring and retention ratios.

Power Secret Nine: Become a Master Presenter

There is an old saying that says “facts tell and stories sell.” If you want to become a successful network marketer, you must become an excellent story teller. At first, you will tell the stories of successful people in your upline and later you’ll share your own success story. People love to hear stories and will better retain the information you’re presenting. Effective story telling is one part of becoming a master presenter and by becoming one, you will move yourself into the ranks of the top performers in your company.

Power Secret Ten: Become a Savvy Internet Marketer

The basis of network marketing is building networks of people who buy and sell products/services. What better place to build a network of people than on a natural worldwide network called the internet? According to Internet World Stats, which you can view at www.internetworldstats.com/stats.htm, as of 2006 there were a little over one billion people on the internet worldwide and that’s up from 101 million in 1998. As you can see, the internet is growing rapidly and is the place to build a network marketing business. However, it’s easy to get lost or overwhelmed on and by the internet, so the key is to learn how to be a savvy internet network marketer. First, you want to have an effective lead capturing web site with autoresponders that follow-up on your prospects. Second, you’ll need an effective database or contact management system that helps you remember to follow-up personally with qualified prospects. Third, you want to have an excellent online presentation system including web site based presentations in flash or video and live webinars. Fourth, you’ll need to have a pass-coded training web site that takes your new associates through some basic training. From there you’ll want to learn about funded business proposals (check out my new funded business proposal system www.the2percentplan.com/plus), pay-per-click advertising, and social marketing. Becoming a savvy internet marketer will add a number of effective business building weapons to your arsenal and help you build a large and lucrative business.

Power Secret Eleven: Develop Leaders

When I joined the industry in 1979, I was taught that if a person could fog a mirror I should attempt to sponsor them. Well, it’s one thing to sponsor a bunch of people and it’s something completely different to develop leaders. Leaders will duplicate, causing expansion of your network without any effort on your part. Leaders will attract other leaders and potential leaders, so learn how to identify and sponsor leaders, plus how to train and develop them. Once you’ve developed several organizations that have at least one leader, you will have a solid base for building a long-term walk-away residual income.

Power Secret Twelve: The Ultimate Power Secret

This is actually the most important of the power secrets. You can effectively use the other eleven and without the ultimate power secret you will still only enjoy marginal results. This is the difference between a double A battery and 220volts of electricity. In fact, the ultimate secret is the real power behind every success. Think about your computer. You could have the latest, greatest, and most powerful computer made by man, but if you don’t plug it into the wall and power it up, the computer is useless. Once you plug into the ultimate power source, amazing things will begin to happen – leaders will be attracted to you and your business, your marketing campaigns produce better results, and you suddenly know exactly what to say to a prospect. This is the culmination of all the power secrets for network marketing success.

Everything you need for massive network marketing success is contained in these twelve power secrets. However, failure or success is truly in your hands and is dependent on what you do with this knowledge. Obviously, I couldn’t include all of the information in each power secret or this would have been a very, very long article, so if you’re serious about building a large and lucrative network marketing business, you might want to pick up a copy of my new book by visiting www.RodNichols.com (store). However, even with all the information, it’s still up to you. Knowledge is power, but only when put into action, so the question is whether you are ready for success or not? If you are, then put this knowledge into action and in a few months to a few years you’ll enjoy the fruits of your labor – financial and time freedom.

Vincent Muir asked:

Network marketing success is no accident. It’s almost as if there were a bible of success that was written for all of us but very few decided to put into action the principles that were revealed to everyone. I have had the fortunate experience to have had worked with the MLM ‘big boys’ as well as the ‘little guys’ in MLM and nothing compares to what I have learned and applied to have succeeded to the depth I have.

The following are proven principles of network marketing success that are readily available to anyone willing to walk the path:

- Truly successful network marketers always network. They create massive lists of people matter what type of scenario they may be in. From build up events to generating their own leads using scientific systems or even direct mailing, whatever medium they decide to use you can guarantee the heavy hitters of the MLM industry are constantly building massive lists of contacts. The purpose of this is that when a unique company launches, they can join this particular opportunity and literally build a massive organisation over a matter of weeks.

- Network marketing success requires that you add value to other people’s lives. Successful network marketers are constantly filling their minds up with valuable knowledge to further enhance their MLM business skills and use apply the knowledge to expand their MLM businesses. People love leaders and when they clearly witness the colossal success of true leaders they become attracted to them as someone that can solve their problems and share the ’secrets of success’. Network marketing success is obtained by always adding value. Don’t ever stop.

- Successful network marketers are always taking perpetual action steps. In other words, they reach network marketing success by never giving up. It’s a very well known fact that over 90% of network marketers that actually stay in their chosen company for around ten years and are constantly building their business always get to the top the compensation plan. This has happened time and time again and will continue to happen to those that realise this principle.

- Network marketing success is fueled by the before mentioned. It’s the inner drive that is consistently fueling the engine of always forging forward no matter what obstacles arise in their MLM business. The true entrepreneur always seeks solutions to solves issues and problems that do come up up from time to time and are never deterred by this factor. In actuality, they know that having experience and knowledge of how to get around these pitfalls adds to their value and leadership power whereas most people simply give up and go back to their job.

Network marketing success embodies these principles and they are the foundation of skills and mindset that are necessary if any wealth is to be created in network marketing. Network marketing success demands constant study, network marketing success demands strong will, network marketing success needs devotion, network marketing success requires never giving up and more importantly network marketing success thrives on true leadership.

If you’re ready to devote yourself in the proven ways of true network marketing success and have the mindset that it takes to start the journey then it’s time to get started. These principles have never failed and never will fail so if the path is taken, then success WILL come.

One of major challenges faced by a network marketer today is getting over the paralyzing fear of cold calling a prospect. We all must have been faced by this gripping fear when we are about to cold call a prospect. The reason behind this fear is one thing and that is, consciously or unconsciously we all are afraid of rejection and it is the fear of rejection which is actually more worse than the actual rejection. Infact most of the times when we actually face the real situation, nothing of this bad happens what we actually imagine it to be. So the key here is to grow a thick skin and start calling as many people as can and you will see the fear starts to fade away call after call. But if you love it and want to stay with it for some time then here are few things to follow which can reduce the rejection on a cold call to quite an extent.

1.) Give the name of the person who referred the lead – This is the first step to reduce your chances of rejection. Your call should go like this. “Hello Mr Robbins I am a friend of Mr Dilts as he gave me your number”. Now Mr Dilts should be either a friend or an acquaintance of Mr Robbins and a mere mentioning the name of Mr Dilts would help Mr Robbins lower his guards and listen to you.

2) Go for existing network marketers – This is one of the shocking shortcut to success in Multi-Level-Marketing. If you are the CEO of your organization then definitely you would like go for experienced persons rather than freshers with no experience. This method alone can get you to the top. First of all the chances of rejection are less because you are from the same industry and he would listen to you and secondly you are getting an experienced person into your business who is more receptive to you. And no problem of training him.

3) Don’t ignore insurance agents, telecallers, salesmen for your business – This should be your target market. First of all they are already doing what you require them to do and that is cold calling people or meeting people. If you get them to join your business they can build it massively for you and above all most of them would be open to receive even a cold call from you.

Now smart work pays much more than hard work and targeting the right people for your business can help you take your business to a much higher level. Only if you do so. So no need to sell beef to a vegetarian or ice to an eskimo.

This is the place where every one has been. Even the most successful people have the same story to begin with. Being a successful entrepreneur is an uphill task and once that uphill journey is travelled everything becomes downhill from there. Here are some of the obvious secrets which work for most of the successful entrepreneurs.

1) Give value to the world – People only go for people who have equal or more value. So give something to this world in terms of knowledge or any skill you have and soon people would start following you.

2) Help others by offering solutions – People want solution to their problems. Anybody who bought a drill never wanted a drill but a hole. So start talking about holes you may eventually sell your drill as well. And when you help others, people generally return the favour.

3) There is a fortune in the follow up – Sometimes the sales comes up in the seventh follow up. So always follow up.

4) Self to self comparisons – Comparing oneself with others at a struggling stage can be suicidal so keep doing self to self comparsons by continously tracking and measuring your own results.

5) Motivation yourself from time to time – Motivation is one of the most important factors in determining success. It is the burning desire that gets one to take massive action.

6) Learn the copywriting skill – It can take you much much far and it is a million dollar skill to have.

7) Evaluating your feedbacks – There is never a failure but a feedback. Start evaluating your feedbacks from time to time. If it is not according to your desire then change the input and keep on changing until something works or you get the desired output.
8) Work more than required – To have an edge over you competitors you should put in your hundred percent and a little more. Sometimes working more can solve many problems of the struggling entrepreneurs.

9.) Saying a firm no is the need of hour – This quality an enterpreneur should possess. The only emotion in business should be passion and your business requires no other emotion. So say no when it is required.

10) Time Management – Time is the most precious of resources so just learn to manage it. Schedule one thing for a specific time and if the time passes and you are unable to do it then drop it and work on the next scheduled thing.

11) The money is in the list – Build it as big as possible.

There are not a list of 500 tips required for you to be successful. Just stick to the basics and the ones that are working for you. In fact the successful people have more problems to face than an average man. It is only by there sheer determination and will to succeed that they make it where they want to be.

It’s going to take your marketing expertise and efforts to generate the leads that your business is going to need. It’s also going to take the prospecting skills that you will need to develop and turn those leads into the cash flow of your business. Prospecting is going to become the heart and sole of your business.

There is going to be the need of some training to get you off and running in your prospecting endeavors. Prospecting is more of a physiological action of the mind then anything else. Many people trip up at this point, including me.

I was not born with an A-type personality. I was more of the, sit in the back of the room kind of guy, and just listen to people. I learned that listening skills are very important when it comes to prospecting, but it is only part of the equation. You still have to know when to listen and when to talk and what to say when you do talk.

This might sound very complicated. I made it more complicated then it had to be, as most people do, when it comes to prospecting.

When I was employed as a loan officer at a mortgage company, we did a lot of cold calling. I was told that if I got fifty NO’s I could go home. I thought this would be easy. At first I got some NO’s. Then I got some “Not interested”. Then I would hook an application. Applications took a little time. Then I would start again, and before I realized it was time to go home and I didn’t get my fifty No’s. My fears of rejection were unfounded. I was fearful for no reason.

As I learned more about our products and continued to practice my prospecting skills, I could relax and be myself. Now those listening skills that I already had came into play, and I could work more on the other ones that didn’t come as easily.

All those hang ups, and all those No’s were just a training ground for me to develop and grow my prospecting skills. You have to get it out of your head that prospecting is painful. The phone is your friend. All those No’s brought me closer to a yes.

Remember this is attraction marketing. We have already learned about targeting your real market. That is other network marketers. This was covered in the first article of the series, “Attraction Marketing”. When you are prospecting other network marketers, your rate of return goes right up.

Practice your skill of prospecting everyday. Let all those No’s be the training ground to make your prospecting skills that much better. I do mean every day. If you aren’t prospecting on a daily basis, you will definitely see it in your bank account.
