Helping You Build A Huge Network Marketing Business

“I am a recovering ‘brokaholic’.” I religiously did everything my sponsor told me to do from attending every meeting, training and conference call. Although I would go days, weeks, months without a new recruit I did it over and over again. My close mindedness left me digging a whole and not turning a single profit or just breaking even. Anything that did not conform to my rich upline I didn’t listen. Insane?

Come one people; am I all alone in this?

See, what I did not understand is that I was spending more time networking with other networkers in my business than I was with new prospects. So I started going to the mall, car dealers and hotels looking for prospects. I even did surveys and got kicked out of shopping centers for putting flyers on people’s cars.

Is anyone relating to this?

I later found out that I was not alone in my company with the same problem. I also realized there are people in other network marketing companies that have the same challenge. There were probably a few thousand people out of the 100′s of thousands of network marketing companies that can relate to my experience.

The California Gold Rush of the late 1800′s produced thousands looking to get their fortune in the California Mountains. But only half the story is ever told the prospectors were not the only people getting wealthy at this time. There were small businesses that provided gold pans, pick axes and shovels, tools the prospectors needed. They knew if they were even going to have a chance at success they needed those tools.

98% of network marketers fail the 2% understand the need for tools to assist them to get to success and to sustain that success. They also take inventory of the value they have in the network they have built through their organization. This is why they can produce an overnight income spike in a matter of hours by introducing a new product or service they like and use to their list.

Here is the logic, since 98% of the people will never join your company why leave that money on the table. Once you limit yourself to just marketing your primary opportunity you stand to lose and lose big. Providing quality tools to the prospectors is extremely profitable. It sustains you when your primary is not paying you yet, it funds your marketing and it provides leads for your primary business. Once a prospect likes and trusts you they will buy based off your recommendation. Make sense?

There are 3 reasons why you aren’t successful in your network marketing business..

Any Agel Network Marketing business builder must use a system. See, the Agel Model has arguably one of the well thought-out compensation plan, therefore the system that you attach to it must be just as effective. With consideration to this, the Gel Freedom (“GF”) concept is on the right path because:

1. An all-in-one, where the network marketing profession, the goods, the business plan can all be presented to business seekers in a efficient way. The information is delivered straight to the potential business builder, without the distributor getting in the way of the message.

2. For anyone who can use the internet, it is a duplicable system because as a business owner, you only have to point to the answers rather than answering them yourself. You can direct prospects straight to your own sight where they can opt-in to a web-form that redirects them to the Business Information for their review. This allows distributors to work on their business on a very part-time basis, without having to sacrifice progress.

3. At 30 dollars a month (US), it’s superior to having to deliver magazines, brochures, and to an extent, having to utilise your sponsor as a third party tool (which everyone will appreciate in this age of “New School Network Marketing”). You can save yourself investment money by capitalising on “internet technology” for advertising your opportunity instead of purchasing expensive hard-copy material that can be costlier than your business overhead itself (i.e. monthly autoship).

4. It has capitalized on the power of the internet marketing era and offered to teach online lead generation to the Business Builder. Technology has literally changed the game for Business Builders. As the system allows you to build your business anywhere, and at any time in the world (if someone is on the net), it is a perfect match to the Agel business opportunity which is available in over 50 countries worldwide. It is almost a “residual business building activity” because you can be building your biz while you sleep.

Now, let us consider a very important fine point that Distributors need to take into account in using the system. Most distributors consider their opportunity, to most powerful money-making machine today given the product, the plan and the circumstances. Here we go:

The One and Only. You see, if everyone is going to implement the same System, then you will be competing with every other Distributor who is identically using the system. You will end up using the same online strategies as everyone else in the system is! So the question is, how do you personally brand yourself in a niche way so that you become the “Person to Join”?

Online technology has literally eradicated the need for you to hassle friends, family and bystanders. My honest opinion is that the system offers a huge possibility for distributors. However, what I believe Distributors also need to know is there is additional knowledge they can learn in order to maximise the power of the System. My fellow business builders, it is of integrity that I share this with you (I am not a renegade).

Success in network marketing is nested in Entrepreneurship, where you continually develop as a powerful leader that people will “want to join”. Contextually speaking, this means you must learn how to generate targeted leads in a unique fashion, implementing free/low-cost social media and SEO methods available abundantly today. You must implement these actions to promote your personal brand to stand out in the MLM crowd today. Autonomy is key. People will join you for you, not the opportunity.

If you train and use these powerful concepts in addition to the Gel Freedom System, then it is almost inevitable that you will experience success with your Agel Business.

Most people think that being a leader means you have followers. But that is not really true. A leader is in fact a follower and they become real leaders only because they themselves follow, regardless of others. Consider a few examples.

The very inspiring leader George Washington won the battles after crossing the Delaware with a very limited band of so-called army. What held them together was the dream of liberty and what made Washington a shining example of leadership are the attributes described here.

Mother Teresa on the peaceful end of the spectrum is a world leader though she was really only a follower of the will of God. Working for the destitute came to her as a calling and millions followed.

Network marketing is a subject that envelopes leadership (and I won’t get into details of that here) and thus I share the true meaning of the word leader here. Each of the first 6 alphabets have a role to play.

L stands for Loyal. There can not be a leader who does not stand for (follow) something or someone. I think it was Mark Twain who said, ‘A person who stands for nothing falls for anything’. Do you see such people around you? Will you see the same people five years hence? In my opinion, highly unlikely. As a reader you may not like this, but one thing leadership is not, is about being popular. Leaders do non-populist stuff which is why there are so few. Think about it.

The E relates to Ethics. Integrity and ethics define strong organizations and Enron and Hitler are examples of mammoths that failed this test. Ethics ensure longevity in networks.

Active leadership wins the A. Washington’s statues are always on horseback. He is there amidst the action. It was the Romans that barked orders from the senate just before their collapse. A leader is active always and on the pulse of his people.

D=Daring. A regular mortal is just not as daring as a leader is. It takes courage to act in spite of not getting results. It takes leadership to dare to dream and follow up on it. The world’s largest electric company is founded by a man who dared to keep at the light bulb even though he failed ten thousand times. Thomas Alva Edison, a leader of the world, was daring.

E is repeated because it is important to be Exemplary. Now we know that the world looks up to people who set a self-example. Who walk the talk. A leader’s primary responsibility is to be successful. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Is your first step exemplary? Worthy of duplication?

R=Resilience. You can never get a leader down. Apply the most adverse pressure and a leader will become a diamond from an ordinary piece of coal. Just like you learn karate by slamming bricks by your hand, you learn network marketing slamming bricks by the mind.

Networking (or Network) marketing is in fact a great profession to be a part of if you understand it right. The most common misconception is that “it’s about selling products.” This is as correct as it would be to say “a job is about working late”. Generally people understand jobs and efficiency related to them. Generally people know that overtime happens only due to crisis or inefficiency. How do they know? They have been taught to WORK.

Now networking marketing requires a person to learn to NETWORK. And only in crisis or inefficiency would a person be found selling products.

What then is there to be taught about networking? If that’s what you’re wondering, look at the 16 years you spent at school and the many thereafter on on-the-job training. Just to get to where you’ve got. Contrast this with 2-5 years on-the-network training for 15 hours a week. Only to result in incomes to the tune of what professional sports persons, celebrities and corporate honchos get. Why wouldn’t anyone want to take the training seriously?

Mark Yarnell, an industry top-dog has an interesting comment on this. Extracted from a book he wrote in the nineties titled ‘Your first year in network marketing’.

He says 95% people who enter the networking marketing industry fail, but those who remain with a single company for ten years and actively participate part time, 95% of them make it to the top of their respective company’s comp plans.

What does the top of the pay plan mean? Though it’s based on the respective company, it is generally of the order of earning in a month what one would have otherwise earned in a year. This implies that ten years of sticking with it would get you in one year all the money you’ve earned otherwise.

Therefore the question here is not about the viability of networking marketing as it is about the seriousness with which people look upon the industry with relation to their future.

Building and operating networks requires a great deal of strategy. Creativity is involved as are people skills. These qualities help in all areas of life. But they are not taught by formal education. For these you need a dream. A team and a system.

As of now, the direct sales industry is really small and confusing. And this decade 2010-20 is when there will be sweeping changes in it. Isn’t it time to spend a few minutes understanding this industry then?

To begin, I don’t say I am the rulebook or the definition master. But for starters furnished below are basic explanations:

Multi-level Marketing (MLM) is the most popular direct sales mechanism which entails products and services moving along a group of buyers, each of whom gets compensated based on the size of network downline to them. Once these groups get large the compensation is pretty huge. Different MLMs adopt different remuneration strategies for matrix building and the binary model is very popular.

Network Marketing adds leadership, empowerment and duplication to MLM. This makes it more of a b-quadrant operation with lesser focus on product sale and greater on learning and growth to follow a system. Network marketers therefore grow less fast compared with MLM but the organizations are more robust and profitable over the years. The binary model is generally not the norm in network marketing.

Private Networking is comparatively new and based on GPT or getting paid today. This makes it a direct sales opportunity in the true sense and like network marketing also incorporates envisioning, leadership and empowerment for residual incomes. As direct sales networks grow and subscribers remain active the residuals kick in.

All three mechanisms are called direct sales because they bypass the conventional distribution channel of wholesalers and retailers. Corporates have used this model since ages for directly reaching consumers through sales people. Products like vacuum cleaners, safety gadgets, carpets and the works have moved this way. Now the same model is in the hands of the individual consumer not attached with any corporate. This gives them a power to earn unlike before and that is what will change everything soon.

Sometime people mix up the networking model and business system. A system is a paint by numbers approach to build any opportunity, whatever the model. It is like a franchise to work step by step to realize one’s objectives as promised by the manufacturer or service provider of the networking model.

Thus without bothering about which direct sales opportunity you have, you can operate an MLM system to develop it in a methodical way.

I, being a professional in marketing, did not take long to recruit a colleague who thought I must be an expert in the area of network marketing. When asked why, he said “because you know the principles inside out”. That was the problem I said to myself while we got started anyway.

But there was – and is – a ‘problem’ and that’s what Mike Dillard says when he states, “Network marketing is just promotion and marketing done by people who have no clue about promotion and marketing”. So this article is a small practical aid for people like moms working from home starting a Networking business with no qualification or experience, to understand what they DO teach you at Harvard Business School.

Marketing relies on creating ‘pull’ while sales is oriented to ‘push’ the product. This needs to be visualized. Network marketing is thus about marketing not sales. However many online marketers don’t seem to understand this and push wildly in online space. Hurts!

Pull implies you draw a prospect in. Do whatever it takes without being pushy. Mostly, work on oneself. At times if one does not make a connection too one must withdraw with grace because the prospect has perhaps not realized their need for you just yet.

However this is easier said than done. Emotions get in the way. And we often feel justified in going for a push just one time out of sheer desperation.

And that’s why the word network is equally important. Networking is truly an appreciation of abundance. A network can be where no one person can be. And therefore the key thing is making a huge list that allows us to have the posture to not get desperate and know there are more.

Funnily we find this hard work because we are doing it for ourselves. If we were doing it for a boss in a company it would be easy to database people. And we’d even get paid for it. So it’s really about mindset…. doing the work without getting compensated which is difficult when the dream is not clear. Once you know why, you will do what must be done.

The average mind challenges this. It asks how contacting a certain number of people everyday can result in a dream. For instance if a car is the dream wouldn’t it be more productive to spend the time contacting car dealers, loan agents etc? Unfortunately marketing works differently.

In corporate jargon we call this simple dream a ‘Vision Statement’, which every mind in the company aligns with. We call the marketers in and train them to have ‘an emotional connection with the brand’ so they sound warm and friendly. And then we segment our markets, target wide audiences and position our products in their minds. Repetitively, through advertising. Spending millions in the process. And the money comes back!

So while the Harvard guys spend millions to make millions, smart network marketers spend a few thousands (on a System like the one mentioned here) to make the same millions and to make mindsets that make millionaires of others! My ‘Why’ for Network Marketing is to make 100 individual millionaires in my life. What’s yours?
